TE AUTE CLLEGE v. WANGANUI COLLEGIATE SCHOOL.
Thig match waa played on the School ground on Saturday in *ftne weather, and resulted in an excellent and fast game There was a very large crowd of spectators. ""} Aute kicked off, and for the first five rhinites the game was tremendously fast, and iJ:en settled down in School quarters. A kk'i-- r.cross by the School resulted in a run b> '-hill, bub the Te Aute boys soon showed . hemselves remnrkably smart in getting on tv both man and haJil. A pass to E. up the field, and the centre three-quarter got away and was well collared by Burns. A free kick by Bull relieved. Erikana agadn got away from the line-out, and made a straight run through and scored between the posts, and kicked a goal. After the kick-off play was central, but the Tr Auta forwards w-ere plainly too heavy and fast for the local boys, snd: were continually breaking away. From a. free kick Te Aute missed ik. s«-k«1, and fckhool were forcec 1. A very fins passing rush was started by Smith, which went to E Ridiiiford. who scored at the corner, but Burns failed with a difficult kick.—Te Aute 5, School 3. Johnson did some excellent running, but could not break through, and half time was called with the ball in the centre.
At the beginning of the second spell School were hard pressed. From a line-out one of .the Te Aute forwards got the bail and scored. No goal resulted.—School 3, Te Aute 8. By a good forward rush School forwards took the ball to Te Aute 25's. but Te Aute relieved by a goad kick. For the next few minutes play was right on School goal-line, but Dive relieved by a good kick. Te-Ante-rushed play back to School 25's, but good play by Johnson relieved. From half way a passing rush was started by Potts, a splendid passing rush followed, and ended in E. Riddiford scoring near the posts. T. Riddiford converted.— Te Aute 8, School 8. For the rest of the game piny was in School 25's. and Matthew scored.—Te Aute 11. Play still continued in School 25'», and the Te Ante half-back soon registered two more tries, both of which were converted, which brought the Te Aute score up to 21. Soon after this time was called, Te Aute thus winning by 21 points to 8.
