(Per Press Association.)

WELLINGTON, August 26. Ifhe Patea election petition will be heard by the Chief Justice and Justice Williams at Wanganui on 24th September. Says the "Post" : One of the grounds of the petition against the return of Mr Haselden for the Patea. scab is that after the poll, the Returning Officer- took out the voting papers of Arthur Nesbit, of Huntervifle, who voted for Mr Heslop, And disallowed it. The Hunterville "Express" says that it has been asked by Mr Nesbit to state that he in no. way instigated the petition, and has no . sympathy with it, and that lie did not vote for Mi- Heslop.
