Messrs. Williams and Harper will sell by auction at the mart this day, in addition to the usual poultry and produce, about £200 worth of dVapery. The sale commences, as usual, at noon. Pins pong has arrived. That was the sensation at Messrs. H. I. Jones and Son's yesterday, when tie first boxes of society's new game was placed in the window. Those who have been somewhat anxiously (awaiting Uho arrival of ping pong, and who have placed their orders with Messrs. H. I. Jones and Son can now get delivery. As the shipment is limited, those who have not .secured a set should make early application. Messrs. R. Baddeley and Cto. are offering to lease,' for a term of 20 years, a nice dairy farm near the Westmere creamery. The property is offered on easy terms, and should not be long on the market. Messrs. R. Enddeley and Co. had a very busy timo last night between 7.30 and. 9 p.m., receiving applications for shares in their Stai' Bowkett Building Society, a great number availing themselves of the opportunity. The firm have decided to receive applications from 9.00 a.m. to-day until 4.30 p.m., and thien from 7.30 to 9 p.m. Mr J. H. Keesing has an extensive list of all kinds of goods to* offer at his weekly ' auction to-day. In addition to large entries of furniture and general sundries, there will be sold at the Mart an excellent lot of dress pieces and household drapery. The sale will commence at 1 o'clock.
The New Zealand Accountants' and Auditors' Association (registered), of which Mr A. S. Russell is president, announces n another column the date upon whch the examinations for the year will be held, viz., on the 16th of October next. Applications from intending candidates must be lodged with the registrar by the 23rd September. The examinations will be held in Auckland and other centres, as may be required. The syllabus is comprehensive, and includes, according to grade, dictation, composition, arithmetic, geography, book-keeping (theoretical and practical), auditing, and commercial law. Copies of, the rules, syllabus and application forms may be had from the registrar, Mr J. H. Mackie, Mercantile Chambers, Queen Street, Auckland.
In another column Mr R. Baddeley is inviting the people of Wanganui to subscribe to a Terminating Building Society on the "Starr-Bowlcett" principle. The weekly payment being only Is per share, it comes within the reach of all to become a shareholder. As a means for making provision for saving, it cannot be beaten; it also enables a poor man to secure a home for himself. Those wishing to become shareholders should lose no time, as Mr Baddeley informs us that there are already 300 odd shares applied for out of the 1000.
Members of the Economic Building Society in want of -cheap loans are reminded that an appropriation by sale of £300, in two sums of £150 each, will be held on Monday night (19th instant) after the close of the ordinary business of the pay night. The Society's terms ar© exceptionally easy to borrowers. .
To conclude his mosfc successful stocktaking sale, Mr Hastings Moore, the Ridgway Street draper and clothier, is making another bid for public patronage. He is offering some special lines in ladies' underclothing and corsets. His genuine sale of di-apery and men's and boys' clothing is still in full swing, but special concessions will be made in the lines mentioned.
By tha s.s. Waikato Mr. W. H. Bird has just landed a shipment of English and American boots and shoes, comprising ladies' and children's light glace kid goods, and gents' black and tan Balmorals. A consignment of goods from Krippendorf and Dittman, of Cincinnati, U.S.A., has also come to hand. IT'hese are among the finest goods made in the United States. Persons requiring Trilby dressing maynow be supplied, another lai-ge shipment having come forward.
