BUSINESS NOTICES.
We are continually hearing of something smart being done by our American cousins, and we frequently meet with some article which for quality and cheapness impresses on our minds the great strides made in their manufactm-es. An instance of this is a line of men'si Wellington boots [imported by Mr W. H. Bird; these are a trial shipment, and the phenomenal price they are sold at should make them a popular line among farmers or others who have to work in the wet. Messrs. W. J. Staples and Co. send out an 'inset with this morning's paper regarding the famous Macmillan bark tan greenhide leather, of which material they have secured the sole right for New Zealand. Hannah's big sale of boots and shoes is now in full swing. Messrs: Turner and Co., cycle agents and repairers, announce that, having obtained a large and commodious shop next to Mr D. McFarlane's, in Ridgway Street, they intend to hold a ten days' clearing sale before moving from their present premises. Mrs M. Briggs announces in another column that she lias taken over the business lately conducted by Mrs Ferry. A large stock of the best confectionery and fresh fruits is kept. _
