Ten thousand troops occupy Barcelona. The tramways have resumed running, and the factories have re-started work.
SYDNEY, May 13.
The experiment of detraining and entraining the returning New South Wales and Queensland troops at Albury was highly satisfactory. Within a short time eight trains conveying 1600 men, 400 horses, guns, waggons and baggage were detrained and fed and entrained without the slightest hitch or mishap. The military authorities were- highly pleased, and consider that in a case of emergency it could be done much quicker.
References were made in many of the churches to the New Guinea massacre. The devotion of the missionaries was eulogised. In a tribal fight at Berlin Haven, Bismarck' Archipelago, two men, and) two women were killed. The ringleaders were arrested,, but escaped. ADELAIDE, May 13.

The Eight Hours Wheel Race resulted: —Martin 1, Rolf 2, Gudgeon 3. Won by a length and a half. Time, 4min 21 3-ssec. Martin also /won the International Scratch Mile in 2min 9 2-ssec.

Mr Paget, Ministerialist, has been elected ion Mackay, defeating the Labour candidate. It is regarded in the district as a protest against the abolition of Kanaka labour. •
