WELLINGTON, March 1
At tho Federation Commission, Eobert Hannah, boot manufacturer, and Charles Pharazyn, runholder, wrote that they considered it undesirable to federate at present; but tho latter said New Zealand should await events in a friendly spirit. William Gray, secretary oi the Post and Telegraph Departments, considered hiaservice could not be> so economically administered under federation, as relatively our prot was greater than that of the other colonies.
P. C. Freeth, journalist, favoured a Commonwealth of our own.
A. A. Corrigan, manager of the D.1.C., considered that New Zealand manufactures were not able to compete against Australian.
T. W. Hislop was of opinion that federation was essential to the ultimate wellbeing of the community.
The Federal Commission proposes' to leave Auckland on Monday, 11th March, by the Mararoa and go on to Brisbane; then back to Sydney, then to Melbourne and Adelaide, back to Melbourne, and come home via Tasmania.
