ST. JOHN'S AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION.

Tho first examination ever held in Wanganui under the auspices of the parent Association on "Home Nursing" has recently taken puce. The local committee were fortunate enough to obtain the services of Dr Harvey as examiner. Twenty-seven ladies wore qualified under the rules of the Order to present themselves for the competition, of which number 25 satisfied the examiner. The local secretary has received the result, and wo append a few of Dr Harvey's remarks thereon.

Successful Candidates— S. F. R. Blyth, E. J. Kelly, J. D. Hoey, B. U. Taylor, G. E. Brown, E Tay'or, A E. Beaven, R. A. Godwin, J P Stewart, M. L. Chile, A. Beaven, G. S. Dymock, J. Brechin, A. H. Randal, H. Norris, A. Young, J. Clare, 0. Bayly, L. Peat, E. Salt, E. S. Worgan, E. Gichard, A. D. Sommerville, A. Burgess, and A. Barr. There were only two unsuccessful candidates.

Dr Harvey., in the course of his remarks, stated that "the examination was as searching as I was able to make it with the required standard. The candidates showed, in almost every instance, a thorough grounding in their subject, only two failing to pass Of those who failed one was too weak in her practical woi-k and the other failed in her paper though very good in her practical examination. Thoso candidates near the top of the list did excelent work, though some whose standard was equally good were placed lower down through not answering all the questions." To show how even tho result of the examination proved, wo have only to draw attention to Dr Harvey's marks. The first on the list obtained 141 marks, and the lowest 100, und the first eighteen were only separated by eleven marks. This report speaks for itself j it points out clearly that the ladies of the locff. section have been very much-in earnest in their work, and we congratulate them sincerely on thejjeneral result.
