BOWLING.
Owing to a series of wet Saturdays the usual opening match of the season between sides chosen by the President an- 1 vice-President respectively, was deferred until Saturday Afternoon last. The weather was delightful and the green in excellent order. Four full rinks were chosen on each side, and the play was very even throughout, either side having alternately the lead, and it was only on the last head played that the vice-Presi-dent's side succeeded in winning by two points on the aggregate scores. The following are the scores: —
RinK 1 President's Side : Milne, Newcombe, Dickson, Hatherly (skip) 22. VicePresident's Side : Bridge, Spurdle, McCarthy, Greig (skip) 30.
Rink 2 — President's Sido : Ashton, Bindon, Weekes, Rodwell (skip) 20. VicePresident's Side : Puterson, Will's, Tawse, Bcnnio (skip) 19.
Rink 3— President's Side : Sherriff, Rowley, Soler, Foster (skin) 16. Vice-Presi-dent's Side: Saphir, Liidit, Fountain, McFarlane A. (skip) 24. Rink 4— President's Side : McFarlane D., Taylor, Stewart, Armstrong (skip) 25. Total 83. • Vice-President's Side : Graham, Bennefield, Elliott, Purnell (skip) 12. Total 85.
Another full rink was formed by players who arrived too lato to be picked to play in the match. Their score was

Marshall, Bell, Swan, Lomax (skip) 20. During the afternoon tea was dispensed by Mrs Rodwell, assisted by the Misses Pawson, Remington, and oilier ladies.
