GOLF.
Tho golf match between the JMan.uvalu and AVanganui Clubs was played on Saturday ou the Balgownie Links,' in fine but windy weather. The visitors could only muster three players, and had to submit to a somewhat severe defeat. The match between A- Strang and J. Harold was onlydecided on the last hole, which Harold won sensationally in 2, a 150-yard jproach running into the hole. The' following are the

Colonel Goi ton (Manawatu) 0 v. J. D. Greig (Wanganui) 10, (:. Monro 0 v. D. Meldrum 8, A. Strang 0 v. J. Harold 1. Totals— .Manawatu 0, Wanganui 19. The Mainro Golf Club held their first Bogey Match of the season on Saturday : afternoon. The greens were ir. first-class ordei, but, owing to the continued wet weather, the course was heavy in places. The match iviis non by Bates (handicap 18) 5 up, Francis (36). D'Arcy (6), Pawson (6), all square, being next, The "Colonel" managed to beat Iho. rest of the players but some very good form was displayed! and several of the beaten ones will be heard ot later on in the season.
