INDIAN FAMINE FUND.
The Mayor has received the following cable from Calcutta : — -"The Executive Committee send their warmest thanks for tbo contribution lo the Famine Relief just received.— Francis MacLeaii, chairman."
The Mayor has also received the following letter:— "Karioi, May 10th, 1900.— Dear Sir,— l enclose herewith cheques amounting to £10 7s, being subscription < raised here in aid of the Indian Famine Relief Fund. You will note that tbe subscription form has beeu sent here from Napier, but as this district belongs lo Wanganui I think it only right to send the amount there. Yours faithfullv, Edwd. McDonnell."
The Mayor has just received ihe following letter, which speaks for itself :— "Bombay. April 9lh, 1900. A. Hatrick, Esq., Mayor of Wangauui. De.ir Sir,— l am deeply gratified 'at seeing in the papers that Wanganui bas done so bravely in backing up the old Flag under which we have so long and so securely sheltered. Enclosed you will and a crossed cheque for £70 to pay for a horse, with equipments for one man. If by chance too lale for that purpose, you can use it for any similar object. —Yours sincerely, H. Sarjeant."
