Tho details of the recent examination of Dr Hatherly's men's class of the St. oohn Ambulance Association have just come to hand, and wc note with pleasure tnat th. , whole of the .eleven, candidates who \rent up for.examination out of the cl.ivs of 2Cwho .underwent instruction, have succeeded in passing. Messrs T. Allison and A. D. •Thomson tied for first place, and Messrs F. H. Watts and W. J. York for second place, and then follow Messrs Alex. Tucker, D. Mackay, F ' Kersley, Rev. A. F. Turner, J. Hogg, P. Duddy, and A. Ward. A word of praise is due to Dr Harvey, of Waverley, who very kindly set the papers for the written examination, and personally examined the candidates in ihe jj-.ictical part of the work, journeying from Waverley for the purpose. Also to Dr Hatherly, who instructed the class, for the very able manner in which he has imparted bis instructions and the large amount of time and trouble he has devoted to the work, As soon as his Excellency the Governor, -who is the highest officer of the order in tbe colonies, returns from his Visit to Australia, he will sign the certificates, and they will then be -publicly presented,. We are glad to learn that already the instruction to the class has borne fruit, one or two members having been enabled to render "first aid " in the caso of a, recent accident. We hear also that several applications are now in for the next sessions class, thus evidencing the appreciation in which the Association is held.
