TENTH ANNUAL GATHERING.

The above Caledonian Sports, which were postponed from February Bth, through adverse weather, were held on the Domain Grounds yesterday. Unfavourable weniher was again experienced, a steady rain setting in late last eveaing, and continued until noon, which interfered with the attendance considerably. The gathering was small during the morning, but in the afternoon the attendance w.is more encouraging. Th-2 ground was somewhat rough, and heavy, but nevertheless' the lacing was of an interesting character. The bagpipe music enlivened the proceedings, and the dancing contests proved to be interesting items for tha spectators. The officials and the see-etary (Mr. J. I'iiws.on) carried out their respective duties in a manner that loft i>o room for complaint. Messrs. H. V ilder, T. B. Insoll, i'lid W. L. Young actad as judges, and their respective decisions nave every satisfaction. Mr. A. W. Meldrum officiated ; an starter, and dispatched his fields in j, very satisfactory manner. Owing to the j i.nfavourable weather several events were struck off the programme. No time was taken in any of the events. The following are the results : — One Hundred Yards Handicap. — First heat: Wood, 4yds, 1; Carter, 12yds, 2. Also started, Ross, 3y.is ; Quinn, 9yds. I Second heat : P. Cuff, 10yds, 1 ; A. W. About 20 yards from the tape James and Arnott, who were leading, left, the former receiving a nasty spike in the thigh. Woods won cosily. Seven others started. This event proved interesting from tha start. At the third lap the men were fairly -bunched, then Wilson took command, and E. Reid passed his men in capital style, but was unable to defeat Wilson, who finished with a fine sprint. Livingstone, who was virtually scratch, ran a gocd race. Hurdle Hindicap Ist £4, 2nd £2, 3rd £1 — Bensley, 14yds, 1; Watts, 3yds, 2; McDonnell, 13yds, 3. Also started — Ross, 9yds, and Woods, 15yds. This event proved an easy thing for Beasley. A good finish for third place, Woods and McDormell finishing abreast. Arnott went to the front a few yards from the post, and a ding-dong race resulted as above. A. R. Cox pive an exhibition run, but broke ' down badly at the half-distance. Bicycle Handicap, 2 mites (local,. — J. Bowick, 550 yds, 1 ; B. Taylor, 800 yds, 2. Ten others started. Zimmerman, the scratch man, was riding well, but afisr traversing it mile his tyre blew off. The race created ;i deal of excitement. One spill occurred, W. Young, a novice, falling badly at a coiner. Some dissatisfaction river the result was expressed, but the judge's decision seemed tv be perfectly correct.

Ladies' Bracelet, 2?.oyds.— Arnott, V> yds, 1; Watts, 7yds, 2; Monk'.y. 17yds, and CoHeitoii, 17yds, 3. Eleven started. Arnott, with a good start, won all the way. Watts, who had a bad start, whs close up at the finish. Young McLaughlin won the Boys' Dancing Competition, and Mitchell was second. In the Girls' Highland Competition, the little Misses \Vade tied for first honours. Quoits Handicap. — L. Barnes, scratch, 1 ; J. Watt, scratch, 2.
