SMELLIE-WYNDHAM FARMER LIBEL ACTION.
A Correction. (Pbb Peebs Association.) Invercargill, July 13. Tlie Rev Mr Smellie asks for the following correction of the Press telegram of the 2nd instant re his libel action against the Wyndliam Farmer newspaper, on the grounds of complaints against him in connection with church matters published by defendant. These were drawn up by one ex-deacon, not several ; these complaints were not read at the meeting, the report of which was the cause of the action, as stated in the telegram inadvertently ; the verdict was given as that of two-thirds instead of three-fourths of the jury. His Honor said he was sure the jury regretted that the matter had been dragged before the public, not into Court, as wired.
