MUNICIPAL FRANCHISE.
The Premier Depufcationised, (PSB PitESS AfiSOOMTrON). Wellington, July 13. This afternoon a deputation representing the Municipal Association waited on the Premier in reference to the Municipal Franchise Bill, now before the Houao. They asked that tho Bill be prevented from going through the Committee stage until the annual Conference, Jwhich will meet on Monday, has an opportunity of disclosing it and expressing their, opinion on it. The Premier said the country had coiac to the conolnsion that there must bo an amendment to the municipal law, espooially in regard to the Franchise. He would do all in his power to get the Bill through as quickly as possible, and he did not think the busi. neaa of the country should ba inteiiered with. So Car as tho principle of the Bill was concerned, tho Government already had the mind of the Conference. It -was unreasonable to ask him to postpone business in 1 that respect.
