MODES IN WHICH WOMEN'S TALENTS MAY BE MADE SERVICEABLE TO THE STATE.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sib,— The abovo is a very nioe way of expressing the covert intentions of women electors. ,1 always knew it would come to this. The women only wanted a voice in selecting a representative j only that, and nothing more. But a good many of us know that " give them an inch and they'll take an ell •," and our prescience they aie now alont to prove. " How may women's tilents bo made serviceable to the '
State?" In other words" How may women scramble into ths Civil Service, and into other paid billets hitherto monopolised by men ?" I'm not just now going to make any predictions as to how they'll do it; but they'll get.there right enough, tnwt 'em far that. Only, what I want to know is, what are ice going to do when they've squeezed into our places ? It's a jolly black look out, I rather think. What say you ?— I am, &c ,
