PATEA BOBOUGH COUNCIL. (From Oue Own Corehspondent). Fatea, December 5. A meeting of the Paten Borough Council was hold on Monday, December 3rd. Present— His Worship the Major (in the chair), and Councillors Brown, Gibbons, Icwin, Mihoney, McKenna, Sorireanr, and Williams. Cosuespondence.— Outward and inward correspondence was dealt with as follows: — From J.Thomson asking to be relieved from the lease of his sections (to lis on the table) ; from Treasury, forwarding part of subsidy in penorol rate for year 189 1 5; from Returning Officer, notifying the election of Mr J. A. McCenna da Mayor; from Mr Balmforth, giving notice of his intention to give up house on Block 28 on Bth iusfc,

Fire Brigade. — The Foreman of Wbrks report was read and leseivod.

Rental — Mr Peacock's offer to rent the hous-e now occupied by Mr Balmforlh was acjoptod.

Market Ke3Eßve.— The Council decided to opan the market reserve to the public at the beginning of the year,

■Rejiovil.— The Major and Councillor McKenna were authorised to have the oH shanty now occupied by Nicholas removed to Block 31.

Devon ethret. — A dangerous place in Davon-street was ordered to be attended to.

Inspection,— Councillor McKonna was appointed to inspect the house and grounds on Block 28.

Cemetery Board, — Accounts were passod for paymont. Ccmmittte to receive offers for grass.

Entries are coining in vory froaly for the Horticultural Show, and a good d spay is anticipated. Ornat interest appears to he taken in the Show by the public. Ttofresbmenta will be provided by the ladies from 3 o'clock till 10 o'clock, tho hcurs daring which the Show will be opon, nnd uiiuic will be provided in the evening. An auction will also take place, Excellent and well-qualified judges hive been procured, and the Committee is doint' all in its power to make things attractive and enjoyable.
