AN ELECTORAL SCANDAL.
Wellington, March 29. A meeting of electors was held last night to ventilate grievances in connection with the recent licensing election for tbe city. The following resolutions were carried :— " That this meeting is of opinion that the State electoral laws and their administration, as revealed at the recent licensing polls in Wellington and | many other parts of tho colony consti- 1 tutes a public scandal, and requires the immediate attontion of the Government, and it calls upon the members for tho city and suburbs of Wellington to represent tho matter to the proper authorities without delay." " That the gross irregularities tolerated in vorious polling booths in the recent licensing elections for tho city of Wellington, and tho attempt in many cases to keep back tho more important of the two ballot papers from electors, call for the immediate attention of the returning officer and the Government."
