THE WANGANUI POLL.
The Returning Offlcer.Mr Morion Jones, was able to give a general idea of the result of the Wanganui election on Thursday afternoon, but as there are still some five returns to be counted the exact result is not yet known. Of those standing for the Committee Messrs Neill and Nathan were the unsuccessful candidates. The locnl option poll resulted in a vote in favour of retention of licenses as at present existing. The following gives the resnlt of the polling co far :— LICENSING COMMITTEE.

Whether the number shall remain as at present 1103 Whether they shall be reduced ... 113 Whether there shall be no licenses. . . 555 Five more returns are to come, bat they cannot affect the result.
Campbell, Ewar Alexander.,. ... 1476 Krull, Frederick Augustus ... . 1319 Ma-lean, Thomas Billing 3289 Cummina, Thonias Dick 1277 Bamber, Thomns 1268 Kitchie, William 1262 Higgie, Alexander 1263 Manson, Alexander Harcus 1217 Neill Samuel 1115 Nathan, George 806 Messrs Bamber, Campbell, Cummins, Hijfgie, jKrull, Maclean, Maneon, and Ritchie are accordingly eleoted. In town Mr Campbell scored the highest number with 1139, followed by Mr Manson (1024), Mr B. A. Krnll (1018), and Key. T. B. Maclean (1011). Sovoral returns are yet to como, but the- result will not; bo affflnf.Mr?.
