NATIVE OBSTRUCTION UP THE RIVER.
« Word was received in town yesterday afternoon that tbo natives nenr Pipiriki had rofuted to allow the removal of slones, for the work to te carried out by the River Trust Board, until thoy wore paid a large sura of uiorioy. Prompt action was taken, and Sergeant-Major Anderson despatched Mounted Constable Hawitt to miiVe inquiries. The const able will go from Upokongoro this morning, and definite particulars as to tho nature of tho obstruction should come to hand this evening __
