D.J.C. AUTUMN MEETING.
SECOND DAY. (Per United Press Association.) Dunedin, February 26. The Dunedin Jockey Club's Autumn meeting was favoured with fine weather, the day being warm but cloudy. The attendance, though not so large as the first day, was satisfactory. Thoro was some trouble about the starting in the Novel Race, Mr Driver, it is stated, admitting that he made a mistake, and that it was no race, but the stewards declared otherwise, and Mr Driver started no more races during tbe day. The following are the results : — . Tally-Ho Handicap, of 100 sovs; 2 miles. Mr D. Rutherford's Ixion, 12st lib (Stewart) 1 Mr O'Brien's Little Arthur, list 131b (Clark). 2 Mr Wright's Trimolite, 9st 121b (Allen) 3 Time, 4min 2Jsec. Dividend, £2 4s. City Stakes, oE 150 sovs ; 5 furlongs. Hugenot 1 Clanranald 2 Cajolery 3 Time, lmin ssec. Dividends, £2 18s and .£3 10s. Dunedin J.C. Handicap, of 400 sovs ; 2nd horse, 50 sovs ; 3rd horse, 20 sovs ; 2 milos and a distance. Hilda, Bst 121b 1 Prime Warden, 7st 71b 2 Occident, Bst 91b 3 Crutchfield, Palliser, Bay King also started. Occident and Hilda were equal favourites. Prime Warden being also well supported. Hilda was quickest away, but Prime "V\ arden took the lead, Bay King, Hilda, Occident, and Pallisor in that order. At the jf-mile post the field closed together and a slashing raco up the straight followed, Hilda winning by half a length. Time, 2min 41isec, or half a second behind the Forbury record.
