DUNEDIN MARKETS.

DONEDIN, February 25. Fat Cattle.— B7 were yarded, very -4 few prime. Best bullocks brought £6 10s to JE7 10s ; medium to good, .£6 to <£6 6s; light, JE3 to SA 10s; best cows, M 16s , to JE6 2s 7d ; light* and medium to fair quality, £Z fis to £A 10s. Fat Sheep — 1328 crossbreds and 8200 merinos were penned. The saleß opened fairly brisk at about equal to last week's, but the demand slacked off, and towards the close the prices obtained were lower by Is .per head. 'Best crossbred wethers brought 12s 9d to 14s 6d; medium, 10s to 12s 6d ; best crossbred ewes, 12s 3d to 13s ; medium, Os to 12s lOd. , Gbain. — The wheat sales of northern wheat is the most being effected, and as the market is bare of milling there is no difficulty in placing any offering. The position seems to be in favour of the producers and likely tocontinuo so for the next three or four months. At any rate 'we quote : — Prime milling velvet and Tuscan, 3s to 4s ; best red wheat, 3s 8d to 3s 9d; medium, 3s 6d to 3s 7d (ex store). The market is almost clear of inferior and good fowl wheat. Oats had a very fair demand both f on, shipment and local consumption, but now buyers are more careless about purchasing, and only extra prime samples fetch up to last week's top price. In consequence, sales are effected at prices nearly approaching late sales, but any considerable quantity put on the market unreservedly would ' have a prompt effect on the present quotations, which are as follows : —Bright feed and milling, Is s}d to Is 6d ; medium to good, Is 4Jd to Is 6d; inferior to medium, Is 2d to Is -id, ex store (sacks extra),- Barley has some inquiry for shipment, but in the absence of suitable parcels offering there is no business re- ; suiting. ■ Malsters are operating, but - only when really prime samples are offering. A good demand exists for feed and jnflling. We quote:— Prime malting, 3s 3s 3d ; medium to good, 2s 6d to 2s 9d ; "■' feed and milling, Is 9d to 2s 4d, ex store (sacks extra).
