The late rain having started the grass And ensured a good supply cf autumn and winter feed, there was a large attendance of Irayers at the yards. All lines of sheep were 'competed for keenly, and sold at satisfactory prices — in some cases the top prices of the season were, realised.. '. Store Sheep.— About 3000 store sheep ' were yarded,, principally old ewes and lambs, a good many farmers wanting ewes to put with '' rams. All lots sold freely at Is better than last week. Cross- ' bred ewes, failing months, sold at 5s to 8s ; sound mouthed ditto, 9s 3d to 10s 6d ; crossbred lambs, is 6d to 8s 7d; forward condition merino wethers, 6s Id ; 2-tooth crbssbreds, 9s to 10s 6d, in small lots. Fat ' Lambs. — The supply was not bo large as last week, but the quality was remarkably good. One pen of very fine lambs, that would weigh close on 60lbs, brought the top price of the season, 16s Bd. On the whole the prices were dearer than last week. About 1200 were yarded and 1 all sold freely, the prices ranging from about 8s to 16s 6d. Fat Shee^. — About 2500 were yarded. The competition was very keen, and a rise of Is on last week's prices took place. Eat crossbred wethers sold at 17s 3d; merino ditto, at 14s Id ; crossbred ewes at 14s. > ' ■ Fat CattliE.t^O* head of fairly good _ cattle were yarded, but the sale was dull — and dragging and prices uneven. Pigs. — The entry of pigs was the ■ largest seen in the yards for a long time, all sorts and sizes being present. The bulk of the entry was small stores, and the prices the same as last week, except for light baconers, which fell slightly.
