A CHAIRMAN'S ECCENTRICITIES.
+ . Mr E. O'Donovan, the Chairman of the Bird Eoad (near Eltham) School Committee, is evidently a curiosity in his way. He has at different times deluged the Education Board with correspondence, i undertaken without the knowledge or sanction of. his Committee, who have at last protested, and Mr O'Donovan has just had the pleasure of forwarding to the Board the following resolution of the Committee concerning himself: — "That this committee repudiate all correspondence «f the Chairman (Mr O'Donovan) to the Education Board , in reference to the teacher." But Mr O'Donovan thinks nothing of Committee's protests, and has carried his grievance to the Minister for Education himself. He apprises the Board of the important fad in his latest communication, dated—, Bird Koad, February 21. Sir, — I beg to quote as follows from a communication of mine to the Minister of Education and o£ Justice re .my recent charges against the teacher :— " In view of the foregoing fact sir, I respectfully submit as follows— Firstly, that if Mr Carson, J.P. and Chairman of the Wanganui Education Board, has become personally cognisant of the charges against the teacher — and the proofs I have submitted the Board— and has condoned or abstained from expressing his individual opinion concerning them, his name should be struck from the roll of the Commission of the Peace." I am, &c— B. O'Donovan.
