The above body" resuineilits nioiithlj meeting yesterday morning. ( PresentMessrs Carson (chairman), Sanson, Fry ; Bridge, Bake*, Notman, Hurley; Beckett, and the Rev. J. Bobs. EXECUTIVE BEPOBT. . The report of the Executive was read and adopted. COBBE'SPONDENCE. The following correspondence' was read and dealt' with: — ' : . • ' A grant of £2, for obtaining' water a1 Kairanga was agreed to. It was decided that the Board's solicitor be instructed in the matter of the Oroua Bridge school site. . A letter was received from Mr Ferguson regarding another school at Birmingham i referred to Mr Fry to reporl on. ■ Mr lunes wrote stating that on account of ill-health he was unable to; sit out Me examination at New Plymouth. ' The Mangaone School Committee applied for increased accommodation. The Board decided that increased accommodation could' not be granted, but that the new dual desks promised should be forwarded at once. ■' Mr Lethbridge (Chairman of the Feilding Committee) wrote stating that he had received information from Mr Hill (schoolmaster) complaining of insufficient house accommodation, he having in cases of sickness to turn his own bedroom into a sick-room and sleep on the sofa. After discussion, it was decided, on the motion of Mr Notman, seconded by Mr Fry, that the Board cannot entertain the application for additions to the Feilding residence. A letter from the Ashurst Committee stated that the sum of ■ .£2O had been granted towards the cost- of building a shelter shed, and providing blinds for Ashurst School. Agreed to , provide pound for pound up to £7. JIANAIA AND OPUNAKE ROADS. A deputation from Manaia and Opunake ■Roads waited on the Board withreferei.ee to building a new school there, and it was decided that the school should be built there on the central site. MANOAONE. A depuation from Mangaone waited on the Board rebuilding school site, but it was decided, to allow the matter to stand over for the present. AUDITOR. 1 Mr A. A. Browne, the Board's Secretary, was appointed to act as : auditor in the cases where the school committees had not appointed one. PEMBEBTON. Mr Field wrote stating that the improyents fcr the site of a school at Pemberton had- been Satisfactorily carried OUt. ' ' .; ' ' CARNARVON. Mr Sanson reported on the Carnarvon School, stating that the shingle roof was badly in want of repair, and the Board decided to cover The roof with corrugated iron. ASSISTANT INSPECTOR. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Beckett, seconded by Mr Fry, That the . Board advertise for an assistant inspector at a salary of £250 a year, and £75 travelling expenses. : MOTION OF SYSTPATHT. On the motion of Mr Carson, seconded by Mr Baker, it was resolved, That the Board tender their deep sympathy with Mrs Mellish, a late ■ teacher under the Board at Palmerston North;' on the sad death of her husband.
