MESSRS ALBERT BARNS AND HOGAN. *ND CO.'S WOOL AND PRODUCE SALE. We have to report holding the first sale of this kind in Wanganui, on Friday, 12th instant- The sale waß from beginning to end a great success. There was a large attendance, and Beveral buyers from a distance as well aa local purchasers were present. The principal vendors were natives from Banana and other places on the Wanganui Biver, who contributed some 60 or 70 baleß. The management of the wool belonging to theae vendors was entrusted to Mr Walter Williams, Hipango, eon of the late John Williams, and it was at his suggestion that their wool was submitted to auction. Mr Williams informs us that the nativea are well-pleased with the result of the sale, aa they ate aatisfied that they obtained the beat market price. 109 balea and a great number of bags were catalogued and all aold under the hammer, with the exception of a few odd lines, whWi were afterwards disposed of. Over one hundred hides were sold, aDd about twenty-five casks tallow, as well as a large qu»ntity of sheepskins, pelts, &o. European as well as native aellerß are quite satisfied with the prices obtained. A few quotati na follow : — Wool.. — Merino wool brought 6f dj merino and crossbred merino, 6^d to 6£d ; lainba' wool, s|d to 6_d ; crossbred wool, 6_ to 6_d j locks and pieces, Id, l^d, and 2d j longwooled skins and lambskins, 4_d to 6d per pound ; pelts, Id to 3d each. Hides.— Good butchera, 3d to 2sd; inferior quality, 2_d to 2sd. Taj-xow.— Good clean samples, £14 10s to £15 per ton ; inferior, £10 10a to £12. We purpose holding another aale in about a month.
