WANGANUI EXHIBITION op 188f> ?* ART, [SCIENCE, AND INDUSTRY, (Under the general control of tbe Directors of the Wanganoi Public Library, assisted by local Sub-» Committees at all the settlements on the West Coast.) IT is proposed to hold an Exhibition in aid of the fund* of the Wanganui Public Library in 4 the Drill Hall and adjoining premises, commencing on FBIDAY, MAY 20iH, 1881. All kinds of Exhibits of Art, Science, Industry, Natural History, Curiosities, Raw Material, and Produce, are invited. For the information of intending Exhibitors, the following are suggested as some of the branches which it is desirable should be represented, together with the names of the Sub-Committees entrusted witU the duty of receiring and arranging the several classes of exhibits : — ART (A). Paintings, Engravings, Lithographs, Photographs, Architectural Drawings and Models, Sculpture, Carving, &c. Commiiteb— -Messrs G. S. Robertson, A. Tod, L. H. Jones, Merritt. SCIENCE, NATURAL HISTORY, AND CURIOSITIES (B). Scientific apparatus of all kinds (microscopes, telescopes, electric batteries, &c.) Specimens and Collections of Animals, Vegetables and Minerals (living specimens under special arrangements) ; Ancient itooks, Newspapers and Coins; Native Arms, Ornaments, and Implements. Committee. — Messrs H. C. Field, M. V. Hodge, Steedman, and W. J. Rainbow. INDUSTRY and MANUFACTURES (0). Manufactured Articles of all kinds, especially those , produced in this district. Committee. — Messrs J. Ballance, J. H. Horn, Cornfoofc, and Dr Tripe. PRODUCE AND RAW MATEBIAL (D). Flax, Silk, Cotton, and Wool, in small quantities, Honey, Wines, Ales, Aerated Waters, Timber, Coal, Ores. Committee.— Messrs F. R. Jackson, Jno. Stevenson, C. S. Cross, and A. D. Willis. The Exhibitors may rely on the utmost care being taken of everything entrusted to the Committee. A nitjhtwatchman will be employed, and insu* ranees against fire effected. To add to the attraction, during the time the Exhibition is open, Dramatical and Musical Entertainments will be given under the direction of a Sub-Committee, consisting of Messrs Greenwood, Gibbs, Crawford, and Culpan. The management of the Exhibition Ball and ante-rooms will be undertaken by a Sub-Committee, consisting of Messrs W. J. Smith, G. Hutchison, J. P. Watt, and G. F. Allen. NUiSEBY AND SEED BUSINESS. In consequence of the death. of Mr J. Greenaway, his Nursery and Seed Business will be let on lease for a term of five or seven years. There is a sixroomed dwelling-house with attached shop, and conveniently arranged outhouses, green-nouses. &c, situate in Victoria*street, Christchurch. Tbe property includes the Hawthorn Nursery, consisting of nearly five acres, splendidly situated near Papanui, on the line of tramway, and well stocked with fruit and forest trees, shrubs, &c, of the choicest kinds. ' offers will be received by Mrs Greenaway up to March. 14. Full particulars may be obtained by addressing to Vic-toria-street, Christchurch. This is an opportunity seldom to be met with, as the business is a thoroughly established one, doing a good trade in all the branches. Tbe stock will be. sold on easy terms.
