WANGAEHU HIGHWAY BOARD.

-# The ordinary monthly meeting of this Board was held on Saturday. Present —Messrs Morgan (in the chair), Montgomery, McGregor, Eichards, and Parker. Minutes. —The minutes of the previous special and ordinary meetings were read and confirmed. Finances. —The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £214 6s 4d. He had collected rates during the month to the amount of £106 13s. There were still a number of rates outstanding, and he had summoned several individuals. Outward Correspondence. — The outward correspondence was read and approved. Upokongaro Line. —Letter from the Board's solicitor recommending the Board to give Mr Georgetti fourteen days' notice to remove all obstructions on the gazetted line, with the exception of a certain number of gates. Campbelltown. —Letter from Mr. W. H. Davies asking the Board to form the Durietown footpath as far as the No. 2 Line; also letters from Messrs Silcocks and Thain asking for an extension of the same path. —Messrs Allan, Thompson, and Armstrong waited upon the Board and asked that the gates near the Eed Lion should be removed. They also stated that, if the Board would give them permission, the ratepayers would be willing to undertake the extension of the Durietown footpath to the No. 2 Line, under the supervision of the Board's foreman. —Permission to form the footpath was granted.—With reference to the continuance of the gates, it was resolved, That Mr Eeid's application to maintain gates be not entertained, and that he receive notice to remove the same. Warrengate. —Letter from Mr J. W. Baker asking the Board to complete the metalling of the Warrengate Line about 10 chains from the No. 2 Line. —Agreed to. Katwhangaroa.—Letter from Mr H. Sargeant asking that some repairs be done to the No. 2 Extension Eoad lying between Kaiwhangaroa and his house at Eiverley.—Ee'solved, That this work be attended to towards the end of March, at the same time that the work on Eeid's hill is proceeded with. Paori Lake Eoad.—Letter from Mr E. Garrett, accompanied by a plan of the Paori Lake Eoad duly examined and approved by the Chief Surveyor.—The Secretary was instructed to take the necessary steps for the completion of the legalisation of this road. Long-Acre and Makirikiri Valleys.—Petition from settlers in the Long-Acre and Makirikiri Valleys praying that the Long-Acre Valley Eoad should be continued along aline pegged off by Mr Cisely, the Government Surveyor, to the corner of Mr Cameron's property, and should from that point be extended in the one direction to Makirikiri, and in the other to the No. 3 line, so as to make a cross line from the No. 3 Line to the Makirikiri, instead of forming the line along that laid off by Mr Garrett. — After a considerable amount of discussion, it was resolved, That the Foreman be instructed to report on the two lines at next meeting. Foreman's Eeport.—The Foreman's report for the past month was read, and various recommendations contained in it were given effect to. Tenders. — The following tenders were received :—For the two bridges on the Long-Acre Valley Eoad—McKinnon, £17 10s; Dempsey, £19 10s. For supplying 600 yards of gravel for the No. 2 Line—Flannary Bros., 2s 4d per yard; Brogan, Is 7cL— The tenders of Messrs McKinnon and Brogan were accepted. This concluded the business, and the meeting adjourned.
