WOMEN’S DIVISION At a meeting of the Greytown branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union on Wednesday next, the speaker will be Sir Herbert Hart, who has recently returned from the Middle East. A cordial invitation is extended to members of the Farmers’ Union and husbands of Women’s Division members to attend at the Parish Hall at 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday. TABLE TENNIS MATCH WIN FOR LOCAL TEAM. The Greytown Table Tennis Club met the Carterton Methodist Club on Saturday night in a match. The Greytown team proved the better of the two. Some very good games were played. The totals are as follow: —Men’s singles, Greytown 9, Carterton 6; ladies’ singles, Greytown 8, Carterton 4; men’s doubles, Grey town 5, Carterton 2; ladies’ doubles, Greytown 6, Carterton 3; combined doubles, Grey town 10, Carterton 4. Greytown 38 games, Carterton 19. Supper was served by the ladies. Hockey. f The Grey town junior ladies’ hockey team played for the first time against Carterton at Greytown on Saturday. Carterton, with more experienced players, showed better combination and won by 6 goals to nil. The local team fielded only nine players, but gave a very creditable account of themselves. The backs played well, keeping their positions and clearing -hard to the wings. With a full team the Greytown players should make a name for themselves in the junior competition before the season closes. In the senior ladies’ match, Greytowij v Featherston, a good open game was witnessed, the local team scoring a comfortable win. TOWN HALL ‘■MISS ANNIE ROONEY." A double feature programme at the Town Hall tomorrow night .will bo headed by the brilliant comedy-drama, “Miss Annie Rooney,’’ featuring Shirley Temple, Wililam Gargan, Guy Kibbee and Gloria Holden. “Maisie Gets her Man’’ is a smart comedy with Ann Southern and Red Skelton portraying the principal characters.
