KOPUARANGA

SOCIAL GATHERING WELL-KNOWN SETTLERS HONOURED. (“Times-Age” Special.) A large number of settlers and friends gathered at the Kopuaranga Hall on Saturday night to honour Mr. Harry Cottle, and Mr. and Mrs. C. Trass, who are shortly leaving the district. Excellent dance music was supplied by Mrs Reside, Miss J. Brophy and Mr. H. McArthur. Mr. B. Fenemor made a capable M.C. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss J. Cottle and partner. Supper was provided by the local ladies. Mr. C. C. Jackson made eulogistic reference to the willingness of Mr. H. Cottle to help his neighbours and any district cause during his 46 years’ residence in Kopuaranga. Hs asked Mr Cottle and Mr Trass to accept a cheque from the settlers. He said that Mr. and Mrs. Trass had been very willing to join in all district activities during their six years’ residence in Kopuaranga and stated that they would carry the good wishes of the residents of the district to their new home in Carterton. As a small token of the appreciation and good wishes of the settlers, Mr. J. Brophy made a presentation to Mrs. Trass and her two little daughters. The recipients were accorded musical honours. Messrs. Cottle and Trass suitably replied.
