Army 11 drew with Wellington College Old Boys 11. Hardham Cup: Navy 12 beat Seatoun 3. Johnsonville 9 beat Eastbourne 8. Training College 21 beat Air Force 3. Upper Hutt 8 beat University 5. Miramar 8 beat Hutt B 0. No. 2 Port Depot 6 drew with Athletic B 6. WAIRARAPA GAMES ARMY DEFEAT OLD BOYS. EASY WIN FOR CARTERTON. Rugby football patroils were provided with splendid marches on Saturday when the Wairarapa Rugby Union’s competitions were continued. The standard of play set in all grades was most pleasing to spectators. Thrilling play was witnessed at Greytown in the senior section, when Army beat Old Boys by 8 points to 3. Both back lines went superbly and the ball was thrown about in fine style. In the forwards Army were better than the Old Boys, but the latter’s light combintion put up a good showing. The tries scored on each side were spectacular. In the Old Boys’ team, R. Compton and R. Dale sprained their ankles. Mr R. Dawson was referee. Carterton beat Masterton by 12 points to nil in a hard tussle at Rugby Park. Play was confined chiefly to the forward packs. In the junior section, Masterton beat Carterton by 6 points to nil. The game was fast and open, and both sides fielded splendid forward packs. Red Star played a good game against Masterton for their first game this season. Results:— Senior Championship. Army 8 (a converted try and a penalty goal) beat Old Boys 3 (a try by L. Dale). Carterton 12 beat Masterton 0. Junior Championship, Masterton 6 (tries by Wishart and Gill) beat Carterton 0. Third Grade. Masterton 9 beat Red Star 0.
