STATE THEATRE

“TALES OF MANHATTAN” “Tales of Manhattan,” which will be shown at the State Theatre tonight, is a memorable pciture in more ways than. one. It packs more stars, more entertainment, and more originality into its ten thousand-odd feet than any picture seen for a very long time. It tells of the adventures of an expensive tail coat from the time it is made for a fussy Broadway exquisite until the time it does service as a scarecrow in a negro farm lot, and each adventure is a complete story, a perfectlyacted cameo, with drama, humour, and suspense, and all the ingredients that make up a first-class picture. The cast is dominated by top-liners— Charles Boyer, Charles Laughton, Edward G. Robinson, Ginger Rogers, Henry Fonda, Rita Hayworth, and Edward Mitchell, not to mention a host of other famous names. It is definitely a picture that should be seen. The supporting programme contains many interesting pictures. There will be a special matinee at 2.15 p.m. on Monday.
