Mrs J. Ashwell, Palmerston North, is spending Easter with her parents, Sir Herbert and Lady Hart, Renall Street, Masterton. News has been received by Mr and Mrs J. Slatter, Bentley Street, Masterton, that their son, Lieut. Sidney E. Slatter (overseas) has gained the degree of Master of Science. The Pahiatua Labour Party has elected the following officers: —President, Mrs A. Smith, J.P. (re-elected); vice-president, Mrs J. Swanney, Kaitawa; secretary-treasurer, Mr J. G. Phelan (re-elected); executive committee, Messrs W. Ridge, P. Ridge, J. Schou, C. Steele, T. Smith, the president, vicepresident and secretary; delegates to the Area Council, Mesdames Smith and Swanney. Mr K. Montgomery, formerly of Masterton, who has been on the staff of the Tararua Power Board for the past six years, has been appointed an inspector of the Waitemata Power Board. He will leave for Takapuna on April 20 and will be stationed there for about three months, then going on to Helensville where he will permanently reside., When he lived in Masterton Mr Montgomery was a prominent member of the Old Boys’ Cricket Club and a Wairarapa representative player, being one of the best all-round cricketers —e district has known. ■:
