TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD
MEETING IN MASTERTON INTERESTING DEMONSTRATION The Masterton. Townswomen’s Guild held its first meeting of the year yesterday afternoon, the president (Mrs Copp) presiding over a large attendance. One minute’s silence was observed out of respect to the memory of service men who had lost their lives in the war.
The president expressed the wish that the year ahead would bring peace and happiness.. Birthday greetings were, extended to Mrs J. M. Coradine, this being the first occasion that a birthday had fallen on a guild meeting day. Mrs Coradine suitably responded. A competition was won by Miss Johnston.
Mesdames Copp and Hair were elected representatives of the guild on (ho Red Cross Society. Mrs Lyttle retired after four years’ service.
Two musical items were rendered bj r Miss Helen Bannister, entitled “When Irish Eyes are Smiling" and “Jeannie With the Light Brown Hair.” A very interesting demonstration was given by Mrs Walker on the preserving of fruit and vegetables. It was decided that nominations for the office of president and the committee should be in the hands of the secretary not later than February 23.
