One Day Stoppage of Work.
The non-arrival of certa n gear for chain workers which the mon claimed should be supplied under a clause of the award caused a stoppage of work at Borthwick’s freezing works at Aorangi on ’Thursday, and no slaughtering was done. Following a conference the whole matter was amicably adjusted, and work proceeded yesterday. Hansell’s Sports Club Dance.
There was a large attendance at the Masonic Hall last night, when Hansell’s Sports Club held another of its popular dances. An old-time waltzing competition was held, and the judge, Mr J. Henderson, declared a tie between Mr and Miss Patectc and Mr E. Bengston and Miss J. McLennan. A Monte Carlo competition was won by Mr Loader and Miss Mundy. Mr J. Henderson was M.C., and Ashton’s Dance Band supplied the music. Another dance will be held on Friday, January 21.
