FAT SHEEP SELL WELL
AT CARTERTON SALE. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report:—We held our first sale of the year in the Carterton yards yesterday, when a fair entry of all classes of stock was submitted to a good attendance. Fat sheep sold well but stores were rather slack. Fat and forward cattle made good values, while there was practically no demand for springing dairy cows. Baconers and porkers sold at late rates. Following are the prices:— Fat lambs (heavy), 24s to 27s 6d; lighter, 20s to 22s 6d; fat wethers (2tooth), 21s 6d to 25s 6d; fat ewes, 12s 6d to 16s; store 2-tooth wethers, 17s to 18s; w.f. wether lambs (good), 16s Id; medium, 10s 6d to 12s; cull w. lambs, 3s 6d to 6s 4d; cull ewe lambs, 5s 6d to 6s lOd; store ewes, 5s to 6s. Baconers, £3 5s to £4 ss; porkers, £2 15s to £3; slips, 35s to £2; weaners (good), 22s 6d to 265; small, 15s to 18s.
