GIRLS’ CAMP
HELD AT WAIRARAPA COLLEGE. FULL RANGE OF ACTIVITIES. ' Sixty girls who were camped during the New Year at the Y.W.C.A. camp at Wairarapa College returned to their homes in Wellington today after a most happy time. On Saturday a further party will arrive for another camp. Miss M. Hursthouse and Madame Taglicht, the camp directors, said today that the generous action of the Wairarapa College Board of Governors in making the college facilities available was greatly appreciated. All had spent a happy time and were sorry to be leaving. The camp opened on December 27 and since then a full programme has been carried out. On New Year’s Eve a candle lighting ceremony was held. Each day, drama, music and handcraft art groups have been held and the splendid swimming baths and tennis courts have been made full use Of. The beautiful Masterton Park was frequently visited and rowing was enjoyed on the lake. The health of the children was carefully watched by two matrons and the cooking facilities made available by the College Board greatly assisted the task of the cooks. Members of the Women’s Division of the Masterton Y.M.C.A. were entertained.
