Mr and Mrs L. O'Hara, of Pahiatua, spent the holidays with Mr O'Hara’s parents in Masterton. Mr. G. H. Mackley, M.P., and Mrs. Mackley were among the guests at the Morley-Jameson wedding at Masterton. The death occurred yesterday at Wellington of Mr Alfred Williams Light, at the age of 75. years. Mr Light was a property-owner and well-known citizen. Mr and Mrs C. D. Lennie, of Wellington, and their daughter, Mrs R. T. Richards, of England, and Miss Jean Lennie have left Pleckville, where they have been the guests of Mrs Peterson. Mrs Richards will later leave New Zealand to join her husband and return to England. Squadron Leader Richards. R.A.F., has been on loan to Australia for the past two years. A Wellington priest, Father P. V. Hurley, who is a member of the Redemptorist Order, has written to his mother, Mrs M. J. Hurley, Lower Hutt, from Santo Tomas internment camp. Manila. Philippines, stating: “We are faring well here. We have been released from internment and are able to do our priestly work." The letter is dated September 12. 1943, and has just been received. It is the first advice of him since he was interned when the Japanese took the Philippines early in 1942. Father Hurley was then in a monastery at Lipa, Batangas, 80 miles south of Manila.
