WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
CHRISTMAS PARTY AT KAHUTARA. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Kahutara Women’s Institute held a most successful plain and fancy dress Christmas party for the children of the district, the hall being packed. Udy’s orchestra supplied the music, and Mr Rendle was M.C. In the early part of the gathering, Mr Stalker piped into the hall Father Christmas, who subsequently led the grand march. Two playettes by Mrs Sadler’s pupils were much enjoyed. A duet was sung by Gwenda Hubbard and Marie Maisey, with Mrs Barg'h at the piano. The fancy costumes were outstanding, and the judges, Mesdames Campbell Pearce, D. Collins and C. Matthews, had difficulty in making their awards, which were as follow: —Girls, 5 years or under, Dedrie Fenwick 1, , Patience Pierce 2; boys, Keith Fenwick 1, Baby Cole 2; 6 years to 10 years,’' girls, June Pound 1, Pat Connell 2; boys, Stuart Ross 1. Allen Sadler 2; girls, 11 years to 14 years, Gwenda Hubbard 1, Eva Bently 2; boys, Don Sadler 1, Henry Napp 2; girls, 14 to 18 years, Joan Siemonek 1, Margaret Welch 2. Special prizes were awarded for the most original costumes to Gwenda Hubbard snd the Harris children (“Adam and Eve”). Supper brought a very happy gathering to an end.
