WEDDING

COLLETT—McLACHLAN. The marriage took place recently at Knox Church, Masterton, of Margaret Julia, only daughter of Mrs G. Sexton and the late Mr A. H. McLachlan, of Masterton, and Rex Rickford John Collett, A.C.2, R.N.Z.A.F., eldest son of Mr and Mrs F. Collett, of Palmerston North The Rev. David McNeur officiated, and Mr C. Kerry presided at the organ. The church was decorated with rhododendron roses and lilies by friends of the bride. The bride, who was escorted by her uncle, Mr J: McLachlan, looked charming in a gown of white embossed satin cut on long slim fitting lines to form a graceful train. The beautifully embroidered tulle veil (which had been lent by a friend) formed a second train and was held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms, and she carried a beautiful bouquet. At the neckline of her frock she wore a spray of lily of the valley, and her only piece of jewellery was an heirloom gold bracelet studded with amethysts. The bride, who was formerly a lancecorporal in the W.A.A.C., was attended by Miss Joan Collett as bridesmaid. Her frock of delphinium blue taffeta wa|lmade on similar lines to that of the bride’s. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations, roses and maidenhair fern. She also wore a spray of real flowers in her hair. Little Dawn Hartman, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. She was attired in a Dolly Varden frock of peach pink net over satin, with a pink satin bow on her hair, and she carried a gold basket of blue delphinium, anemones and maidenhair fern.

The duties of best man were carried out by Mr Fred Sexton. At the reception in the Masonic Hall the bride’s mother, assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, received the guests. The former wore a teal ensemble and a shoulder spray of autumn shaded ranunculus and maidenhair fern. The latter was attired in an Airforce blue costume with shoulder spray of cerise coloured flowers. The beautiful two-tiered wedding cake was made and decorated by Mrs L. O’Hara. Later, when Mr and Mrs R. R. J. Collett left for the South amidst showers of confetti and good wishes from those present, the bride was wearing a midnight blue model frock under a

black coat, with a shoulder spray of pink roses and black accessories. Their future home will be in Palmerston North. «
