MARTINBOROUGH
BOROUGH COUNCIL ARBOR DAY ARRANGEMENTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Martinborough Borough Council was held on Monday night. There were present the Mayor (Mr C. R. Holmes), Crs. T. A. Hamilton, W. H. Corfield, J. W. Mills, F. Gray, C. M. Ross, W. J. Blissett, H. I. Parsons. Leave of absence was granted to Cr. L. Sievers. The school committee wrote asking for two extra water connections at the agricultural plots. The request was granted, the charge to be £2 per annum. in each case. Accounts amounting to £371 were passed for payment. The ranger reported having impounded two ewes during June. The works committee reported that an accident to the pump had delayed the sinking of the well at the headworks. Cr. Parsons was authorised to procure tire necessary drills, etc. The park committee reported that arrangements had been made to plant the frontage of the baths with trees on Arbor Day.
GARDEN CIRCLE COMPETITION WINNERS. The monthly meeting of the Garden Circle was held at the residence of Mrs Thomas, Mrs S. Boyd presiding. The competitions resulted as follows:—Rose, Mrs Boyd 1. Shrub, Mesdames Dale and Beveridge (equal). Bloom, Mrs Boyd 1, Mrs Thomas 2, Mesdames Boyd and Hamilton (equal) 3.
