CENTRAL SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. INCREASE IN ROLL NUMBER. The monthly meeting of the Mast’erton Central School Committee was held last night in the school. There were present Messrs W. R. Nicol (in the chair), G. Masters, G. Bilderbeck, P. H. Shaw, T. A. Russell and S. I. Gibbs. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Butler and Nelson. Accounts amounting to £7 0s lOd were passed. It was decided to send a letter of appreciation to Miss Mulvaney. Approval of a decision to hold a physical education week shortly in Masterton was expressed. It was decided to grant leave of absence for certain Home Guard requirements to the first assistant. The headmaster, Mr E. G. Coddington, stated that the number of pupils admitted was very good and showed an increased roll of 601 as compared with 581 last year. Misses Wylie and Whyte had been appointed supernumerary teachers. The East School exterior had just been painted. Thanks were due to of the committee for help given at the concert prior to the holidays. The visiting committee was stated to be Messrs Masters, Russell and Shaw.
