MASTERTON STOCK SALE
RISE IN FAT EWE PRICES*
There was a good attendance of buyers at today’s Masterton stock sale. The market for fat wethers was firm, best prime making 30s, 34s to 36s 6d. Competition for fat ewes was very active, values showing an improvement of 3s per head, prices being 21s, 245, 26s 3d and 26s 9d. Fat S.D. ewes made 22s 6d and fat hoggets 21s. PAHIATUA SALE. LATE RATES MAINTAINED. The Associated Auctioneers report as follows on their Pahiatua sale yesterday:—a medium yarding of sheep, and a large entry of dairy cattle and pigs were offered to a medium attendance of buyers: Values in all sections were on a par with late rates, and a good clearance was effected at auction. Quotations:— Spg. cows igood) £l3, -12 to £lO 15s; others £lO to £9; later calveis £7 10s to £5 10s; sog. heifers (good) £ll 10to £lO 10s; medium £lO to ~£8: later culvers £7 10s to £6: store cows £4 to £3 10s. Sheet). 2th ewes S.D. rams, 325; fat ewes 2*>s to 235; W. hoggets 23s 4d. 21s to 20s; ewe hoggets 255. Pigs: Stores £2 7s Gd to £2 4s; wcaners 34s to 2Gs; sows, low conditioned, £3 15s to 2?s: Tnmwnrth boar £2 10s.
