DEERSTALKER KILLED

RESIDENT OF WELLINGTON. TRAGEDY NEAR GOLLAN’S VALLEY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. A deerstalker was killed by a rifle shot in the back near Gollan’s Valley in the Orongorongo Range late yesterday afternoon. He was Mr Wallace Arnold Knapp, aged 39 years, of Owen Street, Newtown. A party of police from Lower Hutt and Wellington who brought in the body last night was faced with a rough journey over heavy bush-clad hillsides for some four miles to the nearest road.
