STATE THEATRE

“BLOOD AND SAND.” “Blood and Sand,” Vicente Ibanez’s popular book of years ago, has been chosen as a medium for the talent of Tyrone Power, Linda Darnell, and Rita Hayworth, and will be shown at the State Theatre tonight. This is. a two-hour drama full of dramatic and striking scenes, enriched with Technicolour and often played out to the throb of Spanish music. The drama of the bull ring, from the days of boyhood to the time when the torero is a national hero, are vividly set forth, and so is the fatal romance which removes Juan Guanero from the height to which he climbed when stung by adverse criticism and placed him dying before the altar while the fickle public shifted its affection to a new matador. The supporting cast includes Lynn Bari, John Carradine, and Nazimova, the great actress of a generation ago. There is an excellent supporting, programme covering a variety of subjects.
