REGENT THEATRE

“YOU’LL NEVER GET RICH.” Fred Astaire is at the top of his form in “You’ll Never Get Rich,” which will be shown tonight at the Regent Theatre, while Rita Hayworth lends him noble support as the young revue star who has been told never to take diamond bracelets from strange men. Running the stars close is Robert Benchley as the theatrical producer whose interest in his own productions is much the same as that of the baldheaded millionaire in the front row of the stalls. Typical of America’s warmindedness is the twist of the story, for Fred Astaire gives up his job as stage director to become a “rookie” in the American Army. Rita Hayworth, though acknowledged as a dramatic star, was not suspected of possessing a rich singing voice, or a dancing ability that measures up to Astaire’s.
