FINE OF £5
FOR FAILURE IN E.P.S. DUTIES. LOWER HUTT MAN ABSENT FROM PARADES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Clifford Wilmot Ross, shoe store proprietor, Lower Hutt, was fined £5 by Mr A. M. Goulding, S.M., for failing to carry out the duties required of him by the E.P.S. organisation. The evidence was that he was a member of a unit and was absent from three parades and from a trial,, adequate notice of all of which had been given, The compulsory aspect of E.P.S. duties was stressed during the hearing. The defence was that Ross was away on one of the dates, also that he had not seen the notices in the paper. It was pointed out that any member of the E.P.S. contemplating absence from his district for a period of sixteen hours was required to notify the controller of his unit.
