MASTERTON BRANCH AFFAIRS COMMITTEE MEETING. WOOL FOR INFANTS’ GARMENTS. The monthly meeting of the Masterton branch of the Plunket Society was held yesterday afternoon, the president, Mrs J. Caselberg. presiding. There were also present Mesdames N. Irwin, S. L. P. Free, T. F. Watson, J. C. Broad, Sortain Smith, H. H. Daniell, H. R. Keltic, J. V. Gordon, A. H. Falloon, H. Morrison, C. A. Carmine, E. J. Heffer, T. W. Wardell, P. Nathan, E. G. Norman and R. C. Drummond. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames D. Donald. T. Jordan, E. G. Eton, J. M. Coradine and A. F. Stewart. A motion of sympathy was passed with Mrs E. G. Eton and Mrs F. Whitton in their recent accident. Appreciation was expressed to the Trust Lands Trust for its generous donation. Accounts amounting to £4G Us 8d were passed. The competition for an infant s jacket worked by Mrs Meller was won by Mr Pebb, Lower Hutt. In response to many enquiries received by the branch in respect to the shortage of wool for infants’ garments, the Dominion Council took up the matter with the Government and received the following reply: “All wool of the type required (two and three ply white and cream) is imported into New Zealand. Further endeavours to secure some are again being made.” It was agreed to send the usual donations of £lO to Karitane Hospital. It was resolved to hold the annual meeting on Wednesday, July 8, instead of June 24 as previously arranged. The committee expressed gratitude to Mrs N. Irwin for again undertaking the duties of hon. treasurer to the branch. Thanks were accorded to Mrs C. A Cameron for the continued supply of infants’ jackets. The nurses’ report states. —Masterton: Visits to office, adults 448, babies 414 older children 62, total 924. Casuals’33. Visits to homes (town), new cases 19, old cases 110, total 129. Preschool children seen in homes 12, new cases for month (town) 15. Out-station: Tinui Sub-branch Taueru, Blairlogie Langdale, Tinui, Annedale, Tinui Valley, Maungapakeha two visits each. Visits to homes 28. Mauriceville Sub-branch, Mauriceville East and West, three visits. Kopuaranga two visits, Ihaurua Valley one visit. New cases 1. Visits to new cases 1, visits to old cases, 32, total 33 visits. Pre-natal section: New cases one, return visits, five, visits to homes, two, casuals, two. . Miss Fitzgibbon, Nursing Advisor to the council, visited the branch on May 18, and examined 35 babies. She expressed great satisfaction with then general condition.
