IN THE WESTERN DESERT POSSIBILITIES OF VIOLENT ACTION. ALLIED PATROLS WAGING WAR OF NERVES. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) LONDON, May 24. _ The “Daily Mail’s” correspondent in the Middle East says: “When the war in the desert flares up again General Rommel may use paratroops to attack our communications, but we also have paratroops. The British and Axis forces can be compared with two duellists, each gripping the other with the left hand and seeking an opening with a dagger in the right.” i Allied patrols in the Western Desert are waging a war of nerves against the Axis, says the “Daily Telegraph’s” special correspondent. British patrols shortly before dusk on Saturday penetrated far beyond the German outposts and found four German officers playing cards in a tent while a radio played a dance tune. .Che patrol placed a time-bomb and withdrew, and saw the tent blow up, killing the officers. Free Frenchmen found three Italians having a drinking bout, and walked into the tent and shot them. AIR ATTACKS ENEMY TRANSPORT HARRIED. LONDON, May 25.
