ORATION BY GOEBBELS ON HITLER’S BIRTHDAY. WEAK CHEERING IN BERLIN. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.5 a.m.) LONDON, April 19. Broadcasting birthday greetings to Hitlei- on the Eastern front. Dr. Goebbels said: "The nation while enduring daily petty worries, senses that Hitler is fighting his gigantic battle on the Eastern front, planning throughout the "night, judging and weighing up. From the Fuehrer’s Headquarters there radiate to the remotest point of the front those waves of will-pqwer, inspiring hard-pressed regiments. Hitler, although surrounded by devoted colla- / borators; is really alone. He alone bears responsibility for the future of a great people. We are now at the end of a winter which is unparalleled in human history for hardship and for en- > durance. History will call this period the decisive phase of a gigantic strug«l gle. We pray the Almighty to give the Fuehrer strength to increase and multiply his works and bring victory to our nation., the fulfilment of what he started.” Goebbels spoke in the Philharmonic Hall, in Berlin. His audience was silent. There was only weak cheering when he finished. ’
