DESTRUCTIVE RAID
MADE BY MOBILE FORCE IN LUZON SURPRISE DASH MADE FROM MOUNTAINS. ENEMY LOSSES IN MEN & MATERIAL. LONDON. April 19. A Washington communique reports that a small mobile force of Americans ami Filipinos, operating from the mountains of North Luzon, made a surprise raid on an enemy outpost during the past few days. Military stores were destroyed and heavy casualties were inflicted.
SEBU ABLAZE CITY IN ENEMY HANDS. CONTINUED FIGHTING IN VICINITY. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, April 18. A United States communique states: “Reports from Sebu indicate that Sebu City is in enemy hands. \t is reported to be burning and fierce fighting is continuing in the vicinity. The hostile forces which landed on the island of Panay are being vigorously opposed.” The communique also says: “The bombardment and shelling of Corregidor continued throughout yesterday, though it was somewhat reduced in intensity and little damage was done. Guns from our forts silenced several enemy batteries and blasted roads and bridges in Batan, disrupting communications.”
